Our story

Inspired by my sister-in-law's post awhile back, I decided to share ours at some point. That point is here.

Ashley mentioned in hers being one of "those" couples. Well we are one of "those" couples, but another category. We are one of those couples who had a long history.

Once upon a time, there was a little boy in Florida who moved with his family to North Carolina and started at a new school in fourth grade. Meanwhile, there was a little girl whose parents wanted to move to a different area so she and her brother could go to better schools. They finally chose a place and the little girl joined a fourth grade class halfway through the year. In her class, she saw a cute little boy with red hair. She was lucky because her assigned lunch seat was right across the table from him. She always tried to be next to him whenever she could. (Which is why she ended up next to him in pictures from school.)

They were in the same gym class in sixth grade, but they didn't have classes together anymore after that. The little girl was disappointed when she found out they didn't have classes together each year. She still thought about him once in awhile and saw him at school-wide events, but they didn't talk. Soon she didn't think about him at all.

When they went to high school, she still didn't have any classes with him, but her friends did. When Christmas break started, she went to the movies with her friends and they invited the boy. The girl was putting butter on her popcorn by herself and the boy walked up to her. He started talking to her again and she suddenly felt just the same as she had before.

Brice and I didn't become official for another six months, and it was almost six and a half years before he took me back to our elementary school and asked me to marry him. Maybe we didn't have a lot of dating experiences, but I think both of us learned just as much in the seven years we were together. In many ways we grew up and learned together as we experienced major moments together and we still do.
