Christmas recap

Pin It Here's another one of the not-because-anyone-is-interested-but-so-that-we-have-a-record posts.

We had a nice chunk of time in NC this Christmas. (Turned out to be the longest we have been there since we moved away.) I worked the Sunday and Monday before so that we were able to leave Tuesday morning when I got home. It was another pretty bad case of "work-lag" and I kept getting five hours of sleep each night.

Kicking off the week was a dinner at Brice's parents with his brothers and his dad's sisters and spouses. Great time to see everyone. The next day we hit the Billy Graham library in Charlotte with my parents. Brice found time in the afternoon to make his world-famous Chocolate Fudge Cake with Vanilla Buttercream Frosting and Chocolate Ganache Glaze. Yeah, that's right.

Thursday was a shopping day for both of us, followed by a great dinner with my parents and my adopted extended family--"aunts" and "uncles" the Browns and Mesitis, "cousins" Matt, Stephen and Leigh Ann, "Uncle" Jimmy, "grandmother" Mrs. Shearer, and dessert guests Heather and Stephen and Sarah and Danny. We even got to meet Paisley, Heather and Stephen's new puppy.

We opened Christmas presents like it was Christmas day on Christmas eve morning and then went over to Brice's parents'. After a nice visit, we exchanged gifts with his brothers and grandmother and had a delicious turkey dinner that included my parents. This was where we had to leave to get back at a decent hour. The plan was to go to church late, come back and open presents, but we were both a bit too tired. (As it later turned out, Brice was just trying to get me out of the house so he could tend to his surprises while I was gone, but I foiled his plans by being tired.) We ended up watching A Christmas Story for the first time ever and then doing our gifts to each other and from Brice's parents.

It was strange to sleep all day on Christmas. A very weird feeling to wake up, know it was Christmas, and roll over and go back to sleep. Brice went to church and didn't do much else, sadly. We did get some snow, so that created another inclement weather fiasco for me at work. The weekend went fine otherwise though. I certainly wouldn't want to make a habit out of working Christmas.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!
