Date night #1

A couple of years back my husband and I were really into using Groupon.  If you've never used Groupon, check out their site and see if it's available in your area.  We lived in Atlanta at the time which meant there were a lot of good deals (basically, you pay $25 for something worth at least twice as much).

One summer we were able to collect a few great Groupons at the same time and put together a fun evening.

Stop number one: Dinner at a new pizza place to which we'd never been.  Got just the kind of pizza we like--pepperoni, sausage, peppers, and onions!

Stop number two: Paint your own pottery.  We did this together once before in our hometown right before we both left for college.  Each of us painted something for the other to have in their dorm room (I'd post a picture, but both items are in storage back in the States).  This time we each just painted whatever we liked for ourselves.  I chose a giant, Central Perk-style coffee mug and he chose a small cup with a lizard on it (boys!).  Typical pieces cost around $10 but can be as high as $40 at these places.  You spend an hour or so painting and leave your piece with them.  They fire it for you and you come back a couple of weeks later to pick it up.  Check out our before and after pictures:

It's a really fun date and easy for people of any artistic level.  You can even have kids' birthday parties at these places.  I went to a party and we each decorated our own square tile.

Stop number three: The final stop--Coldstone Creamery.  We both enjoyed our own creation before heading home.

I can't remember exactly how much each stop cost since it was a couple of years ago, but I'm quite certain we didn't pay more than $40 for all three stops combined.  I'm pretty sure the Coldstone was a $5 for $10 deal and both other offers had to be at least 50% off (that's Groupon's deal!).

  1. I love paint your own pottery! My husband and I did it recently with a friend of mine and it's so fun to see how they turn out after they are fired (the colors change!). It's also a great date idea because you can talk the whole time.

I love Groupon, we've gotten some great dates out of it in the past, including super cheap dinners and nights at the comedy club!

Thanks for visiting! I love to get comments and feedback on my posts so thanks for taking a minute to say hello!
