Because I couldn't choose between my long-standing commitment to Company Girl Coffee link-ups on Friday and my desire to be part of 7 Quick Takes, I have two link-up posts today. Check out the other one here and stop on by Home Sanctuary--I love Rachel Anne and you will too!
I shared some big news this week that I'm certain most of you other Quick Takers will want to check out. (Hint: I have something more in common with our hostess now. Oh, and to stop you right there, it is not blood clots and it is not pregnancy.)
We had a snow day on Wednesday. In Connecticut. It was weird because it wasn't that much and it never occurred to me (or my husband) that it would happen. I'm a substitute school nurse but I'm new so checking school schedules is not something I'm used to doing. I'm really glad I didn't have a job scheduled because I almost certainly would have driven in and then wondered where everyone else was. It's a big switch for me now to have these snow days like I'm a kid again since I used to be in a hospital and one of those people who had to leave their house no matter what happened. But now I'm excited to see when my next snow day will happen!
I finally got my breadmaker situation straightened out and used my new Oster Expressbake on Saturday night. I was really nervous about it because I never measure when I cook and I know that it is very important to be exact with a breadmaker. It came out absolutely perfect and I was so relieved. Next up is some herby Italian bread.
My grandmother came to see me on Monday and got to see where I live for the first time ever. This is our 5th home and we're finally close enough that my aunt and uncle were able to drive her down from upstate NY to see it. My poor uncle had been at the Patriots game the night before so he was a real trouper to come all that way (but he always is!). They all had some of our delicious bread with some honey butter I mixed up and then we attempted to head to an Irish pub. There was a lot of disappointment when we found it closed, but we had a great time together anyway.
Today begins the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. If you are a member of an interchurch family or have an interchurch marriage, I hope you'll check out this site for interchurch and interfaith families. I'm a member and we have a great listserve with some very thought-provoking discussions.
Please check out my post from Monday and let me know if you would be interested in writing a guest post or if there is a topic on which you would like to see a post written.
