Quick Takes-vol. 11

--- 1 ---
Happy Friday!  Today is my last day of clinical and I'm excited.  Not because I didn't like it or the people or anything, just because it means one less ball in the air if you know what I mean.  I've kind of felt like instead of just having a school "ball" this semester I've had a "school"  ball and a "clinical" ball and somehow that has pushed me a bit further than usual.

I'm going to a wedding today!  One of my RCIA classmates is getting married and since our class brought their significant others along, we know them as a couple.  I'm leaving clinical early today to make it to their wedding.
--- 3 ---
We had pizza for dinner last night.  We made one of those classic mistakes of getting the bigger size because there was a deal and it was actually cheaper.  Unfortunately, now we have enough pizza to feed a family of 10.  After we finished eating we honestly couldn't figure out what to store all this pizza in.  Anyone live in the NY/CT area and feel hungry for pizza?

I decided to start a new series here.  I've had a lot of thoughts about how to explain particularly mystifying Catholic beliefs and practices to Protestants and when I was about to write a post about a few things I thought maybe it was best to break it down.  So if you missed that check it out here.  I'm interested in potentially having guest posts (you don't have to be a blogger yourself) and maybe even a post with a lot of contributors--Twitter-style.  I'm really hoping to make some strides for inter-church understanding here so I really hope to get some participants.  If you have any questions you'd like to see addressed (as a Catholic about Protestants or a Protestant about Catholics) please send them to me or leave them in a comment.  I want to stress here that theological background isn't really necessary for writing a post.  I'm not sure if I made this clear in the initial post but I want the explanations to be from a more personal perspective and what these beliefs or practices mean to you, how they play out in your faith.

Next week is spring break here in the schools so I won't have any work and I won't have clinical.  I'll still have plenty of school to catch up on, but I sort of feel like I should be planning to do something exciting.  Hopefully the weather will be nice and I can spend some time outside at least.  Anyone else have spring break coming up?

Speaking of the weather, I'm not ordinarily one of these seasonal affective people (my best friend and husband trend this way), but I was really excited to have warm weather on Tuesday.  It felt wonderful and I was so happy to have the windows open all day.  I told my husband that I think this is the first time in my life I remember being joyous at the arrival of spring weather.  I've never been a warm weather person--I love cold.  I love the clothes that go with it and the activities and the holidays and I would just rather have that part of the year.  But having lived in Germany last year and then had this moderate to hard NE winter, I've actually had a chance to miss warm weather because I had a decent amount of cold.  And it feels so much better.  I drove to the grocery store that afternoon with the windows down and realized it must be at least a year and a half since I've driven a car with the windows down :-)

My husband does the grocery shopping now and he picked up a pork butt this week and made pulled pork on Tuesday.  In the south, this is known as a food called barbecue.  It is a noun, not a verb.  (It's not that I think you are dumb--it's just that I was about 10 before I figured this out so I'm not sure about everyone else.)  It was super good:
A good southern meal :-)

  1. I didn't know people didn't know it's a noun! Lol. Looks delicious!

  2. Let the guy know you both have inspired me. As I'm typing, I'm getting wiffs of BBQ coming from the grill (six hrs of slow cooking). After hearing about your meal, I bought two butts (big sale at F.L.)and we will be savoring it this weekend. Thanks for inspiration. (I spread the word to Uncle Chip, also).

Thanks for visiting! I love to get comments and feedback on my posts so thanks for taking a minute to say hello!
