I was thisclose to being really daring and embracing spring weather and wearing something else today...but, at the last minute I chickened out. I probably would have been fine because I was really quite comfortable, but it's okay. We got out to enjoy the beautiful weather yesterday by going golfing--a first for me. No, I don't golf, but my husband does and since he doesn't have any golf buddies here he invited me along :-) It was such a beautiful day and course, but I should have brought a jacket--the breeze off the lake was chilly! We finished off the evening with a great dinner at Red Lobster, one of my favorite restaurants.
I'm happy to report that the continuous chatter today during Mass was from a little girl around 14 months old and that was just fine with me and much preferable to last week's episode :-)
Dress: H&M
Belt: Target? (not 100% sure on this, but pretty sure)
Necklace: Kohl's
Leggings (major rerun--not sure how I could have done winter without them): Still don't know
Shoes (rerun): Target
(I wasn't able to wear my bracelets this week because they may have snagged my dress.)
This dress was one of only two clothing items I bought the entire time we lived in Germany. I was meeting my long-time friend in London for tea on our trip there (she lives there now) and I had nothing that would have been appropriate to wear and still be able to sight-see in. My sweet American friend and fellow medical English teacher offered to drive me to a nearby town to shop and we found this and I was so happy. (I have a weakness for anything white/ivory and lace/eyelet/woven etc.) Apparently so do a lot of other women in Europe. On the day I wore it alone I saw three other women wearing the same dress. Since I bought it I saw it at least eight other times and I've seen similar dresses that weren't the exact one. I heard from other people that the reason this happens is that H&M is one of the only options in Europe if you want less expensive clothes. (Here we have Banana Republic, GAP, Old Navy, Kohl's, and lots of other discount places.) So everyone ends up wearing the same thing.
Anyway, there's a little lesson on affordable fashion in Europe :-)
Best wishes to Emily for her marriage!
That dress is absolutely gorgeous! I so love lace detailing on shirts and dresses.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI LOVE that dress! I bought a super cute top from H&M while we were in Germany a few years ago that I just wore yesterday!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Caitlin! For some reason I liked H&M better when we were living there--usually disappointed here in the States. The other item I got was a really cute top as well.
DeleteWow, I didn't know that about European clothing. Such a cute dress, and I love the belt and necklace w/ it!
ReplyDeleteHaha, well, don't cite that knowledge to other Europeans as "gospel". Whatever they say is what I would go by, but it is what I heard. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteThat dress is beautiful. What a keepsake and so timeless. Just lovely my friend...lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary!
DeleteWOW - this dress is absolutely stunning and it looks super comfortable to wear as well!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jenelle! It is very comfy--don't you love when you can find something that you look nice in but it's still comfortable?
DeleteI love the dress as well! Lace is just so pretty!!! And from a fun place!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI LOVE H&M! You look beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jessa! Is there a lot of H&M in Israel as well? Not sure how it would compare...
DeleteThat dress is soo pretty! Love the lace! I also LOVE your header pictures! So cute!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sheena! I love collecting those header photos--we're still missing the most current one and I'm worried we won't have anyone to take it for us ever since I forgot to ask when we did have visitors!
DeleteMy first time here and I love your blog header. :) I need to learn how to wear a big belt over a dress...my chub always finds it's way out, but you look great. Love the dress.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks! I struggled with the whole belt thing as well and I still only have 2 outfits that really employ it. It can be difficult to figure out where it should go and all.
DeleteWhat a great outfit! It looks so put together! I golfed in high school and loved it! I haven't gone in years and I was pretty awful to begin with, but I hope to be able to go soon. Would you go again?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mandi! I enjoyed being out on the course because the weather was great and the course was beautiful. I'm not sure I'll take up golf. I feel like that's actually something my husband enjoys doing without me :-) I do enjoy going to the driving range though and I love mini-golf!
Deletethis is adorable. I wish I could pull something like this off. (I am going to be better about spreading the comment love from now on)
ReplyDeleteI am SURE you could pull something like that off. Believe me, this was really not that hard to put together. But there is something about a big belt that makes you look (and feel) put together :-)
